Meet Christian Nunez, The Tech Expert Behind the Scenes at Scholarship Prep South Bay

Ensuring that everything runs smoothly is Christian Nunez, our South Bay Campus’ dedicated IT Technician, whose journey into the world of tech started with a spark of curiosity and has evolved into a career of service and innovation.

A Passion for Technology and Education

Christian’s interest in IT began in middle school when a neighbor who repaired computers introduced him to troubleshooting and problem-solving. That early exposure led him to pursue a career in technology. However, his path wasn’t a straight line. Before joining Scholarship Prep, Christian spent nine years working with Pre-K students and two years teaching English in Japan. His unique background in both education and IT made his role at Scholarship Prep a perfect fit.

Keeping the Campus Connected

Each day, Christian ensures that teachers and students can focus on learning without worrying about technical difficulties. He starts the morning by checking classroom internet connections, assisting substitute teachers with devices, and troubleshooting any unexpected tech issues. But his role isn’t just reactive; he also proactively identifies potential problems to prevent disruptions before they happen.

His problem-solving skills were put to the test during Scholarship Prep South Bay’s move to a new campus building. The transition required integrating network connections, phone systems, and security measures across two buildings with different setups. Christian also played a key role in implementing the PikMyKid dismissal system, which now runs efficiently and streamlines end-of-day procedures.

Making an Impact Through Technology

Christian’s work goes beyond keeping devices running; he ensures that technology is accessible and beneficial to all students. From introducing Esports opportunities to guiding students through hands-on Chromebook repairs, he is passionate about providing real-world experiences that equip students with valuable skills. He has also facilitated international connections with Japan, expanding students' global perspectives.

One of the most rewarding aspects of his job is seeing how technology empowers students with diverse learning needs. The accessibility features on Chromebooks, such as tools for color vision deficiencies and hearing impairments, have made a tangible difference in student learning. For Christian, these moments reinforce the importance of his work and the role technology plays in fostering an inclusive educational environment.

Beyond his technical expertise, Christian is known for his patience and kindness. Whether helping a teacher troubleshoot a device or encouraging students to explore new technology, his positive attitude makes him a valued member of the Scholarship Prep community.
