Dr. Charles Friedrichs is the now retired Associate Professor and Director of the School of Music and Dance at San Diego State University (SDSU). During his accomplished career at SDSU, he taught a wide range of courses, including music theory, conducting, brass methods, and music education practicum. He also served as the Music Supervisor for cadet teachers within SDSU's School of Education, furthering his commitment to the next generation of educators.

Dr. Friedrichs has a deep connection to music education, having taught instrumental music at various levels in public schools and remaining actively involved in school music programs. His compositions and arrangements, many of which are for concert and marching bands, have been published by leading publishers such as Alfred Music Publishers, Matrix Marching Band Publishers, Hal Leonard Music Corporation, and MESA Music Publishers.

In addition to his academic and educational contributions, Dr. Friedrichs is an accomplished bass trombonist, performing in numerous productions at the Vista Moonlight Amphitheater. His expertise also extends to consulting for the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing, where he has evaluated teacher credentialing programs offered by universities.
